What’s your battle chant?
Imagine you’re a warrior and the legion is preparing to launch the final offensive where victory is not certain.
You’re all tired, dirty and hungry from restless days and sleepless nights of bloody battles.
Your leader stands before you while the sun is rising on the horizon, marking the moments before you go on the final march.
Suddenly the leader raises his sword and screams the battle chant.

You feel sparks of energy surging throughout your nerves, providing you with energy that didn’t exist moments ago.
Your mind calms and you’re super focused on the things you have to do and the goal you have to reach no matter what.
You hear powerful sounds of the legion’s shield clashing, forming a group heartbeat that provides you with even more power.
The tired, dirty and hungry you is gone and you’re reborn as a powerful warrior ready to take on any foe with great determination.
The warrior before the battle chant and after the chant is a completely different being.
Returning to the question… what’s you battle chant?
Imagine if you can power yourself up like this warrior every day.
There would be no obstacle to stop you and you would push forth with great power, excitement and determination.
My task today is to help you create your own battle chant and tell you how to use it to provide you with the energy and focus to tackle your hardest goals every day.
PUT ASIDE THE VISION BOARD AND CREATE YOUR POWER BOARD
I’m sure you know about the vision board. It’s the board where you write or attach pictures of the vision you want to realize sometime.
Vision boards are ok to remind you of where you need to go, but to completely upgrade your game, you need to make a power board.
After you create your own power board and learn to utilize it every day… your performance and energy will be on a whole another level.

A power board is a game-changer because if let’s say the vision board provides you with a better sense of orientation, the power board will power you with an unbreakable armor set, a sword, wings, a map, great focus, energy and excitement.
It’s the complete package that prepares you for the battle.
So let’s jump right in.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR POWER BOARD
The difficulty of making your power board depends on your level of self-awareness and whether you already have some of the components.
With that said, let’s start with the first component:
VISION
Write your vision in one, maximum two sentences.
Think of the vision as a very long-term goal, which can take many decades to realize. It is the ultimate goal that you’re striving for.
The vision will provide you with an orientation for striving, as well as an orientation toward which you can lay down smaller goals on the way.
The critical part is that it should provide you with powerful excitement.
Just thinking about your vision should excite you and provide you with energy and motivation.
VALUES
The second component are core values that shape your mindset and behaviors.
These are traits you wish to embody in your daily life. The foundations of your character and the standards of your performance.
You can include power phrases from your mentors. They don’t have to be real mentors. Many of my “mentors” are authors and figures I love to learn from either by videos, blogs or books.
One of the benefits of using power phrases from your mentors is that they come with the emotional energy. For example if you always get pumped seeing a video by your mentor such as Tony Robbins, then just by reading the power phrase from your mentor will provide you with the same emotion.
Added benefit is that they give you permission to be authentic and to strive for beyond extraordinary.
They should provide you with reminders of how you should think and behave. Eventually after many days of reminding yourself and acting through, the values should be integrated in your identity and come naturally.
Put simply: it’s your way of being and doing.
Some examples from my values are:
“EFFORLESSLY GRATEFULLY JOYFULLY” – “Effortlessly” reminds me to stay in a mindful state which is intelligent, relaxed and effortless versus a state filled with unnecessary thinking, tense and forced effort which indirectly seeps away much energy. Gratefulness and joyfulness are other core values I want to maintain throughout the day.
“MICRO FREAKING SPEED, MACRO FREAKING PATIENCE” – This is a power phrase from one of my internet mentors Gary Vaynerchuck. I love consuming his content for both practical marketing insight and for the energy that he provides. The “freaking” part was added by me for emphasis. Btw, actually I use a more intense word.
“WHERE IS THE MADNESS, ROSE?” – This one is a quotation from the book “Turning Pro” by Steven Pressfield, where a more experienced artist pushes the other to go beyond and push her limits of creativity and potential.
Just like vision, your values should fire you up and provide you with energy.
And the last component is…
STRENGTHS
You can pump yourself up with energy and motivation after reading your vision and values.
But as humans are rational beings, sometimes emotions are not enough.
The vision might excite you, but in moments of weakness, you will doubt yourself.
This creeping doubt will eat away your motivation bit by bit until you lose your momentum and edge.
How do you fight the rational brain? You have to play the same game as this scumbag.
Strike with your own rational arguments by laying down your strengths as reasons why you can achieve your vision.
Ultimately you would have a vision which is aligned with your strengths and passion which will make it easier to lay down the strengths you have to reason yourself that you have what it takes to achieve your vision.
After you have all the components written in a document or paper, the next step is to plant these messages to different stations of your daily life so that you’re reminded of them frequently.
INTEGRATING THE POWER BOARD IN YOUR DAILY LIFE
Even though I call the power board a board, it doesn’t have to be on a single board.
The way I have done it is that I’ve written different parts of the vision board to different places where I can frequently see it throughout the day.
I have different messages set up in places such as my desktop on my laptop, home-screen and lock-screen on my mobile phone, and my note app.
As you might imagine, I encounter my power board very frequently during the day and it keeps me focused and energized. And when I feel like I need to energize myself further, I can open up one of these power boards and feel the fire raging within me again.
Get creative with different stations that you’re frequently encountering in your daily life.
Lastly, you will update these power boards frequently as you learn new things and as you stumble upon new traits and power phrases that you want to integrate. They’re especially helpful as a reminder when you want to integrate new habits such as being mindful or trying to be more physically active.
